About Rainbow Ridge Farms Bed and Breakfast
About the Innkeepers
We decided to leave the city and suburban life in Washington DC, and begin an adventure in the La Crosse area. After a year long search for the perfect property, we found our farm. We arrived June 1996 and began renovations. Labor Day Weekend 1996, we welcomed our first guest to Rainbow Ridge Farms Bed & Breakfast.
What a fun and exciting ride it has been! We have met many wonderful people from all over the world.
As we have grown, we have found needs that we are able to fill. We are very active in the La Crosse County 4-H Goat Project, we open our farm to different school groups for field trips, Goat Yoga, and a kids’ farm day camp in the summer. We love sharing our beautiful patch of earth!
This isn't something we can do alone. We have a wonderful group of friends and farm-families that have blessed us with their help. Don't be surprised if you meet them while you're here!
The Farm
Rainbow Ridge is a working hobby farm. We raise award winning dairy goats, chickens, heritage turkey’s, and heritage pigs. As good stewards of the earth, we are committed to sustainable farming techniques. All of our animals are pasture/free-range and love to interact with our guests. A hike to the famous monkey tree with the goats is a must!
Activities at the farm vary by season. As our guest, you are welcome to help milk goats, feed babies, and collect eggs for breakfast in the morning. During kidding season, you are welcome to join us in the barn while kids are born. We post a list of kidding dates.
As Innkeepers, have had the pleasure of welcoming guests to our home from all over the world since 1996.
For things to do beyond the farm, we are close to three state bike trails, as well as, the Mississippi, La Crosse, and Black River’s activities, golfing, hiking, snowmobiling, X-C skiing, Mt. La Crosse, local wineries and breweries. We are just a short drive to the local Amish community and their fine craftsmanship.
This is our personal residence, and all four of our guest rooms offer a wonderful view of the pond and surrounding bluffs and farm. There are some common areas including two living rooms and a dining room. The dining room has a huge table that is wonderful for board games.
We have 2 Shih Tzu dogs that will greet you. Sorry, guests' pets are not permitted.
One of the favorite activities here at the farm is hiking up the hill to the "Monkey Tree" with about 50 goats. We are excited to let you know that we have partnered with the North American Squirrel Association, a non-profit organization that grew out of a desire to provide physically challenged and elderly members of our community with outdoor opportunities. They provide Action Track Chairs that will allow people of all abilities to experience the magical trip up to the "Monkey Tree". It is helpful to request the chair in advance, so please let us know if you would like to use it. n.a.s.a. does wonderful things in our community! Please check their website and consider a donation to them. www.nasasquirrel.org
